As Assistant Event Manager for DocksFest 2024, I played a crucial role in the successful delivery of this inaugural 5,000-capacity music festival in Cleethorpes. Working alongside the Event Manager and wider team, I provided essential administrative and logistical support throughout the entire event lifecycle from setup to breakdown.

Festival Overview

Docks Fest was brought to the public in association with Docks Beers and Docks Academy, featuring performances by:

– Headline acts: Razorlight, Frank Turner, and Feeder
– Supporting artists: Lottery Winners, Afflecks Palace, Orphan Boy, and Healer
– VIP acoustic stage performances by local artists including Eden-Rae Lake, Sam Simmons, and others

Key Responsibilities

During the intensive six-day deployment, I:

– Supported the Event Manager with scheduling, logistics, and delivery of all festival operations
– Coordinated with vendors, production teams, workforce, security, and site management
– Oversaw critical logistical aspects including vehicle access, equipment deliveries, and catering arrangements
– Supervised event staff and temporary workers, ensuring clear understanding of roles and responsibilities
– Maintained continuous communication with the event team to address concerns and ensure alignment with objectives

Operational Achievements

My contributions included:

– Assisting with the management of the dedicated VIP area serving 300 guests
– Ensuring smooth execution of the event schedule while handling real-time adjustments
– Participating in daily briefings and providing workforce instructions when required
– Maintaining comprehensive event documentation and coordinating audience feedback collection
– Supporting ticketing operations and customer service needs throughout the event

Working within this fast-paced festival environment required excellent organisational abilities, effective communication skills, and the capacity to manage competing priorities simultaneously. This experience enhanced my event management capabilities while contributing to the successful launch of a new music festival in the region.
