SO Festival

During my five-year tenure with Magna Vitae Trust for Leisure & Culture in Lincolnshire, I played a pivotal role in delivering cultural experiences to diverse communities across the region. Magna Vitae operates as a charitable trust dedicated to enhancing leisure and cultural opportunities throughout Lincolnshire, with a particular focus on engaging underserved audiences.

SO Festival Coordinator (2018-2021)

As SO Festival Coordinator from November 2018 to May 2021, I helped orchestrate one of the region’s premiere cultural events. SO Festival is an international street art festival that:

  • Brings world-class outdoor performances to Mablethorpe and Skegness
  • Engages coastal towns traditionally experiencing low cultural participation
  • Transforms public spaces into vibrant creative hubs accessible to all
  • Creates meaningful cultural experiences for diverse community members

Creative Producer (2021-2023)

My responsibilities evolved significantly when I became Creative Producer from May 2021 to November 2023. In this expanded role, I:

  • Managed multiple creative projects simultaneously
  • Contributed to Magna Vitae’s strategic development, including their NPO application
  • Developed a new democratisation strategy to increase cultural participation
  • Secured Arts Council England funding for projects exceeding £30,000
  • Commissioned innovative works from artists discovered at international festivals

Key Responsibilities

My work encompassed:

  • Coordinating all aspects of artistic planning, logistics, and administration
  • Managing relationships with freelance production companies and safety personnel
  • Creating robust artist support systems (contracts, scheduling, travel, visas)
  • Overseeing budgets, supplier relationships, and evaluation processes
  • Training freelancers and volunteers to support our cultural projects

This multifaceted experience allowed me to develop comprehensive skills in creative producing, project management, budget oversight, stakeholder engagement, and digital innovation – all while advancing Magna Vitae’s mission of making transformative cultural experiences accessible to everyone in Lincolnshire.
